Cold-chain stability. No heat. No adhesive. Mono-material recyclability. LDPE stretch sleeves solve every problem dairy packaging has with conventional shrink — without a tunnel investment.
Dairy containers — HDPE milk jugs, HDPE/PP yoghurt tubs, polypropylene cream pots — are often made from polyolefin polymers. A LDPE stretch sleeve on a HDPE container is mono-material: label and container are both polyolefin, and can be recycled together without separation. This is the strongest recyclability case of any label format in the market — and is increasingly required by major dairy brands in the EU under Extended Producer Responsibility frameworks.
Stretch sleeves are applied elastically over the container at ambient temperature — no steam or hot-air tunnel is required. This means: no thermal stress on the product, no energy cost for the tunnel, and no risk of container deformation. For sensitive dairy products and temperature-controlled filling lines, this is a significant operational advantage.
| Parameter | Specification |
|---|---|
| Film grade | LDPE 30–50 mic (food-contact grade) |
| Application method | Ambient temperature elastic application |
| Container compatibility | HDPE, HDPE/PP, PP dairy containers |
| Recyclability | Mono-material with polyolefin container |
| Shrink/stretch ratio | 30–40% elastic stretch |
| Minimum label width | 80mm (depends on container diameter) |
For glass dairy bottles or containers requiring tamper-evidence, a shrink sleeve (typically OPS at 40 mic, applied via low-temperature hot-air tunnel) may be preferred. OPS activates at 60–65°C — low enough not to stress HDPE containers — and provides a cleaner, tighter finish on round bottles than stretch sleeves.
