Cosmetic containers are among the most geometrically challenging for shrink sleeve application — tapered bodies, waisted profiles, pump heads with multiple diameter changes. PETG at 45–50 mic handles up to 75% local shrink ratio, which is sufficient for all but the most extreme tapered designs. For heavily waisted bottles, pre-distorted artwork and PETG high-shrink grade (HQ40) are recommended.
Natural and organic beauty brands are moving towards PLA shrink sleeves or cPET EcoSleeve — the washable PETG grade with closed-loop recyclability. Both support clear sustainability claims on pack. PLA carries EN 13432 compostability certification; cPET EcoSleeve carries EPBP wash-off test approval for PET recycling.
EU Cosmetics Regulation (EC) No 1223/2009 requires specific ingredient list placement, batch codes, PAO symbols and distributor information. Shrink sleeves provide ample surface area for full compliance without cluttering the primary graphic panel — text-heavy regulatory content can be placed on the back or base panels where shrink distortion is minimised.
